General
- Why did you change the format of the SM Cinema website?
SM Cinema is continuously looking for ways to enhance its patrons' movie experience, in cinema quality and convenience. The new SM Cinema website provides a more efficient way of browsing through the movie schedule of all SM Cinema branches nationwide, while giving patrons the unique opportunity to purchase/reserve tickets right at the comfort of their own personal computers.
- What is the bCODE?
A bCODE is a secure and encrypted message that can be scanned easily. The message is the result of a proprietary algorithm that's transmitted across technology that's standard in over 99.7% of the world's mobile phones. Anybody familiar with a text message will be instantly comfortable with a bCODE. It can be scanned via the bCODE machine located in all SM Cinema branches, whether it is printed or shown via SMS.
Registration
- I registered in the website, but I haven't received any confirmation email even though the email I put was valid. Why?
Receiving email differs from one email provider to another, depending on how they filter your incoming emails. Some of them may take longer to receive the confirmation email. Others may filter the confirmation email for Spam/Junk Folder. You may try using a different email address if it is taking too long, or check your Spam/Junk Folder.
Schedules
- How can I find out about a movie's schedule?
You can search movie schedules via the following:
Schedules page: At the home page, click on the Schedules button. From the Schedules page, you will be able to search for schedules per branch or per movie.
Movie Search bar: At the home page, click on the Movie Search bar. You can filter the search bar for the specific cinema branch and movie. After clicking on Go button, you will be directed to the Schedules page, showing the specific branch and movie schedule you specified at the Movie Search bar.
- Until when will a specific movie be showing?
SM Cinema branches will post all available movie schedules at the website. As long as the schedule is present, then it is still showing and available for online purchase/reservation.
- Will Movie X be shown in IMAX?
You may check at the Schedules page for information on whether a certain movie will be shown in a specific cinema type (Digital, IMAX, and Director's Club). At the Schedules page, you may opt to see either a list of the branches or the available movies, and underneath the name of the branch/movie will be a label of whether they will be shown in Digital, IMAX, Director's Club).
- Will Movie X be shown in Cinema X / Branch X?
You can browse through the Schedules page for more information on what movie will be showing in which branch/cinema.
- I can't find Branch X on the website, but it was there yesterday. Why?
Branch visibility on the SM Cinema website will be dependent on whether the branch has posted new movie schedules. If a branch is not included in the list, then they are in the process of updating their schedules for website viewing and purchase availability. However, branches are able to update immediately and will almost always be available.
Purchase
- How do I purchase cinema tickets online?
The SM Cinema website connects with all SM Cinema branches nationwide, and updates them immediately for all online purchases and reservations. When you buy a ticket for an IMAX movie for example, your selected seat/s will be blocked for you as soon as you complete your transaction online.
- If I purchase a movie or movie schedule by mistake, can I still change it?
Once online purchase has been made, it has already been recorded in the database of the branch you purchased from. If there is a need to change movie schedules after purchasing, you may proceed to the branch you purchased from and request a change in schedule at the ticket booth. Bring your transaction information (your printed voucher or the reference number will do) so that the cinema personnel can verify your transaction details, before processing your request
- If I purchase a ticket online from specific branch by mistake, can I have my purchase changed to another branch instead?
You may proceed to the branch you bought from or to the branch you want to change to and make your request for branch change. Please present your reference number or printed voucher at the ticket booth for transaction verification. After checking, they will process your request and accommodate you as soon as possible.
- I purchased online, but I didn't receive any email voucher or SMS for the bCODE. Why?
If you did not check the option to receive the bCODE via SMS, then you will not receive the bCODE on your mobile phone. However, you will always receive an email confirmation/voucher after every transaction. If you did not receive the bCODE via email or SMS (if you selected the option to receive via SMS), then your transaction did not push through and is considered as cancelled. This may occur due to the following:
- System Time-out: If 10 minutes of inactivity (no button presses) has passed during the transaction, then the system will cancel your session (and your transaction).
- Abrupt Window Close: If the internet window showing the transaction was closed (whether intentionally or accidentally), then the system will cancel the transaction.
- Unfinished Transaction (Credit Card): If, after confirming credit card details, you close the window while the system is returning from the bank's website to the SM Cinema website, then the transaction will be cancelled.
- System Error: Due to an internal error in the system or in the payment gateway, transactions might be cancelled to prevent further errors.
- I encountered an error while trying to purchase, so I decided not to go through with it. But when I checked with my bank / G-Cash, my account was already charged for it. Why? How can I get my money back?
Erroneous charging may occur if:
- User abruptly ends the transaction, without completing it.
- Payment gateway bank host successfully accepts customer payment but fails to return validation to SM Cinema system.
- An occurrence of system error.
You may easily initiate a refund for the said occurrences by notifying the branch from which you made the transaction. Branch cinema personnel will ask for your transaction details and process your refund accordingly.
- My bank tells me they don't give refunds. Does that mean I won't get my money back for cancelled transactions due to system error?
Refunds will be made by the payment gateway host bank, not the bank of the credit card, therefore ensuring that necessary refunds will be processed accordingly.
- I've purchased my ticket online, and received my email voucher with the bCODE on it. But I didn't receive any SMS for the bCODE as well. Why?
If you did not check the option to receive the bCODE via SMS, then you will not receive the bCODE on your mobile phone. Also, check your account details if you were able to include your mobile phone.
- I don't have a credit card. Can I still buy online?
Yes, you can. Simply use your G-Cash to purchase tickets online. For non G-Cash users, you can visit http://site.globe.com.ph/web/gcash for information how to be a member and how to use G-Cash.
The SM Cinema website now supports advance reservation of seats for 3D, IMAX, and Director's Club movies. As long as the schedule is available at least four (4) days before the screening date, then you can reserve seats for your favourite movies. You can claim your reservations at the ticket booth. Simply show your Reservation number then purchase the corresponding tickets. Please note that reservations not claimed within two (2) days after reservation was made will be forfeited and seats will be made available again for purchase.
Claiming
- Can I use the printed voucher with the bCODE instead to scan for my tickets?
Yes. The bCODE machine can recognize both the SMS and printed forms. For printed bCODE, ensure that the paper is placed flatly on the bCODE machine scanner.
- The bCODE machine is “Out of Service”. What does that mean?
The bCODE machine will display this message when it is experiencing technical difficulties such as network problems. During this time, you will not be able to redeem your tickets via the bCODE machine. However, you can still present your Reference number (found at the printed voucher or at the bCODE SMS) to the ticket booth, and they will use it to print your tickets.
- Can I use my bCODE again after I've already scanned and received my tickets?
No. bCODEs are for one-time use only. Once your bCODE has been scanned and tickets have been printed, the system will recognize it as being already redeemed and will not allow it to be used again.
- I scanned my bCODE at the bCODE machine, but I don't want to get the tickets yet. Is that OK?
Yes. You can press the Cancel button to close the option of printing the tickets.
- I want to buy cinema tickets for my friends/family. Can I purchase online then forward the bCODE to them via SMS?
Yes. The bCODE SMS will be like any other SMS. Even if you forward it to others, it can still be redeemed for your convenience.
- Do I get charged when I choose to receive the bCODE via SMS?
No. SMS sending of bCODEs are free of charge.
- What's the reference number for?
The Reference number serves as the tracking data for your transaction. Cinema personnel will ask for this when you opt to print your tickets at the ticket booth or when you want to check the status of your transaction with them. It is found on the printed voucher, confirmation email, and at the bCODE SMS.
- The bCODE machine at the branch is down/not available. How can I get my tickets now?
You can still present your Reference number (found at the printed voucher or at the bCODE SMS) to the ticket booth, and they will use it to print your tickets.
- After opting to buy the ticket/s, it says I'm going to avail of a food bundling/promo. Does this come with the ticket/s I purchase?
Food bundling is the food that comes with your purchased ticket. They are bundled with every Digital 3D, IMAX, and Director's Club ticket purchased.
- How do I claim my food bundling/promo rewards?
Food bundling can be redeemed at the Snack Bar. Promo rewards can be claimed at the ticket booth.
